Hampton Heights, New Era
Starting June 1, 2016, Hampton Heights will begin a new era, under new leadership.  Van Nance and Andrew Pitts are now the new management team.  They are both from here in Hickory and have their roots and family here.  They bring an emmince amount of golf experience and and passion for success.  At our first annual customer appreciation event their mission statement was revealed and plans were announced for Hampton's future.  All in attendance were very impressed and pleased with what they heard.  We all are looking forward once again to Hampton Heights GC becoming a center for golf and community fellowship in Hickory among Families, Seniors,  Juniors,  Students, Leagues, and all who want to enjoy it's convenience and value.

There are a lot of great things working in our section.  Of course there is a lot of excitement about the PGA Junior League and how fast it is growing.   The league is for kids 8 to 13.  This years team at Hampton had three players make All Stars.  We are always recuiting for new players for next season.  Contact me for information.

We are still recruiting new golf members.  This year we have added a range benefit to the golf memberships.  Come in and let us give you the details and help you get started for this year.

Our Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday Dogfights are going strong.  If you would like to participate and meet new people, call the Pro Shop and get the details on what times they play.

*** The HAMPTON OPEN is in AUGUST ***                                TAYLOR YOUNG is the Current Champion                        WHO IS GOING TO TAKE NEXT YEARS TROPHY?

Our Junior Clinics were very successfull this past summer.  Our camps ran Monday thru Thursday, 9AM to 12PM. two weeks in June and two weeks in July.  It is always my plan to help the kids a lot with some great information and motivate them to be the best they can be, respecting the game, and each other. Also our hope is that they take away from our camps, a desire to want to keep improving and keep learning more about all the things that we try to touch on in Camp, that make Golf such a great game, The Game of a Lifetime!  The Greatest Game Ever Played! Our goal in camp is to get kids to try to understand why so many of us beleive in these ideas.

What better thing could you do for yourself or your family than give them the opportunity to play this great game, and where else can you do so for the value that we offer you?  Join Hampton today!  Such an inexpensive way to recreate that does so much for you in and your family in return.

Tips for the Day

1.  You don't play golf with your swing, but with your heart.

2.  Visualizing the flight of the ball above all else, is one of golf's secrets.

3.  Start with small swings and get contact and ball flight under control, then let swings get   bigger gradually.

4.  Tension in any muscle or joint is blocking speed and acuracy.

Lessons

Individual lessons are available for players of all ages and skill levels.  I started playing golf in 1969.  I grew up playing competitive golf thru junior high and high school and on into College at Wingate University.   From 1977 to 1980 I served in the US Army with the 187th Pathfinders at Ft. Benning, GA and 82nd Airborne Div. at Ft. Bragg, NC.  Once out of service and still having a love for golf anda desire to continue to improve and learn all I could, I started as an Assistant Professional at Cedarbrook CC, in Elkin, NC with Zim Zimmerman in 1982. While there I gained my class  A status with the PGA of America in 1987. Through the years, there have been many others who have had a great infuence in my life, most I have met through this great game.  I look forward to the chance to be of service and to share 45 plus years of experience, sharing the love of golf with you, and a lot of the lessons that have been passed to me in order to help you get better and to be able enjoy this great game more.
